Doris P. Meister is a Non-Executive Director and Senior Advisor to Emissary Partners, providing 40+ years of experience in wealth management and financial services for the benefit of Emissary’s clients and the firm’s board and corporate governance.

From 2016 to 2024, Doris served as Chairman and CEO of Wilmington Trust, a wholly owned affiliate of M&T Bank (NYSE: MTB) with $79 billion in assets under management and over $1 billion in revenues. At Wilmington Trust, she led a transformation of the Wealth and Investment business on multiple levels, resulting in a 40% increase in revenues and 15% pre-tax increase in profits under her leadership.

Previously, Doris served as Co-President of U.S. Markets for BNY Wealth Management, Managing Director of the New York Office of Bernstein Global Wealth Management, Chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch Trust Company and founder of its Private Banking and Investment Group (now Private Wealth Management). She was also a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company as a member of its Financial Institutions Group.

Doris has been named to the Top 10 Women in Wealth Management by Barron’s, Top 100 Women in Finance by Barron’s, and Top 25 Women in Finance by American Banker.

Today, Doris serves on the boards of Emissary Partners, RWA Wealth Advisors (as executive chairman), AssetMark and the American Endowment Foundation. She is also on the Advisory Board of Supernova. She holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and an AB Degree in Economics from Smith College.
